In the Context of Data Privacy, What Does Giving Your Consent Mean? Hello, Companies often promise not to store, share, or sell your information without your consent. But what does that really mean? We’d love to hear from you about your experience so that we can better understand how businesses’ confusing data privacy consent practices are impacting members of our community. (In this survey we will ask for your consent to publish your responses anonymously. Members of the Mozilla Foundation team will have access to the anonymized results.) Can you take our anonymous 5-question survey about app privacy? Here's the first question to start the survey: I generally know when I've consented to have my data shared or sold when I download an app. |
Through the hundreds of products we’ve reviewed at *Privacy Not Included, we learned it’s common for companies to manipulate the meaning of “consent.” However, the fact that it’s common doesn’t make it okay. We’re especially concerned with how apps that collect sensitive information — about our states of mind, sex lives, and bodies — handle your consent. Have you, like us, at times been confused about data privacy consent? We’d love to hear from you. Take our anonymous 5-question survey about app privacy. Thanks so much for lending a hand to our research. We can’t wait to share our findings with you.
