A sad thought occurred as Williams revealed its 2022 F1 challenger today; the FW44 is the first car the legendary team has ever produced that Sir Frank never got to see. His passing in November followed a stellar career that earned 114 F1 victories, seven drivers’ titles and nine constructors’ crowns. He shall never be forgotten as one of F1’s greatest team bosses. Williams the team has also ‘moved on’ from carrying the Senna S logo on its car and will instead honor the memory of Ayrton – one of F1’s greatest drivers – with a dedicated space at its museum. As times change, one thing that remains the same in F1 is the lack of capacity for sentimentality. Sir Frank and Ayrton would both have understood that.
