Download ready-to-run virtual machines for Hyper-V

When you need to experiment with software and settings, the best possible test bed is a virtual machine. Using VMs, you can build an entire network, isolated from your production servers, and discover potential issues in a controlled environment without risking your organization's security or productivity.
The fastest way to put that test network together is to download ready-made virtual machines from Microsoft. Here are three great places to start: - On Windows 10, open the Hyper-V Manager and click Quick Create in the Actions pane on the right. There, you'll find two preconfigured Hyper-V VMs running evaluation versions of Windows 10 Enterprise as well as Ubuntu Linux distros. Just click, download, and run.

These are, of course, evaluation versions that expire after 30 to 90 days, but you can typically reset the VM a few times, and you can also use your own product keys to continue running after the evaluation period ends.
