Over the course of his 70-year career, Frank Lloyd Wright designed more than 1,100 structures, with more than 500 of them realized. The trailblazing architect’s first independent commission, at the age of 26, was a stately home in suburban Chicago that was built in the late 1800s and has now come up for sale at $2 million. Representing the core ideas of Wright’s signature Prairie Style and known as Winslow House, the symmetrical home’s golden Roman brick exterior is complemented by an ornamental terracotta frieze and interiors complemented by extensive carved wood accents. And on the outskirts of Santa Fe, New Mexico, the vacation retreat of another prized if lesser-known American architect, modernist master Myron Goldfinger, has come up for grabs for $1.6 million. The simple, one-bedroom hogan-like structure sits on almost 30 acres with wraparound views of the high desert landscape.
