Indie Tactics by Emily Thompson Indie Tactics by Emily Thompson

Winter is officially here. Some of you are getting snow. Most of you are planning your next year. All of you are wrapping up the year at hand.

By this time, every year, I'm hanging my hat for some time off. My business year is over.

So for me, the official beginning of winter (the winter solstice was yesterday) is usually my ending point for the year. What's done is done. The business year is brought to a close. My projects for the year have reached completion (or not, but it's a completion point, nonetheless).

It's time to tuck in my efforts for the year and go enjoy some family time.

These days between the solstice and the new year are the buffer between work and more work. It's a time when I sit on what I've accomplished, and I dream about what the new year will hold.

I do more reading, journaling, and dreaming during this phase of the year than I do any other. It's also a time to celebrate everything - the good and the bad.

So, for the next few weeks you'll find me reflecting, writing, researching. I'll do some life hustle (hello, annual Christmas Eve brunch and some travel to see family). I'll hermit away, all cozy with too much herbal tea, and pursue things I'm interested in. I'll read books on new ideas. I'll get back in the kitchen.

All the while I am dreaming up the magic, momentum, and mission of my upcoming annual cycle, when I'll begin the work again, to see what I can create next.

TO-DO FOR YOU:
Take some moments to pause over the next two weeks. Pursue a curiosity. Do something that has nothing to do with profit. Feed your soul.
