5th Grade Reads Kicks Off with The Wizard of Oz at the Grand Theatre

5th Grade Reads is a community reading program that encourages all 5th grade students in the Frankfort and Franklin County area to read and discuss the same book. The 2020 selection is The Lions of Little Rock by Kristin Levine.

In this book about segregation and friendship, the main character watched The Wizard of Oz in the theatre with her new friend, a black girl who was caught trying to pass as white. To kick-off this reading program, we're hosting our own free showing of The Wizard of Oz at the Grand Theatre this Sunday, March 8, at 2pm (free tickets are available at the Youth Services Desk!). All ages are welcome.

Check out more events here. The author, Kristin Levine, will be at the Library on Thursday, March 19, at 6:30pm!
