A few days ago, our founder Hilary Bradt was made an Officer of the Order of Madagascar – one of the country’s highest honours. It was a glitzy affair, with a parade of soldiers and a scrum of local media interest that reflected the huge appreciation there is for the impact she and her landmark guidebook has had on Madagascar over the last 40 years. That appreciation is shared by many other destinations around the world, those neglected by other guidebook publishers. Hilary has always been a travel pioneer. This month, we’ve decided to celebrate Hilary’s pioneering spirit by throwing a spotlight on other women who are blazing the travel trail. - Adrian Phillips, Managing Director
