I would like to share some wonderful news regarding our film Seats at the Table. This is the portrait of Andrew Kaufman’s Books Behind Bars class which brings together university students with residents of a maximum-security juvenile correctional center through the study and discussions of great works of Russian literature. I’m very pleased to announce that the film will have its world premiere at the Global Peace Film Festival in Orlando in September. GPFF is a perfect match for the film’s mission as its focus is on films that serve as a catalyst for positive change. Our goal is to inspire others to replicate this type of program in their own communities. Back in 2010, our past film World Peace and other 4th-Grade Achievements screened there and the festival played a significant role in the early days of sharing the work of John Hunter and his World Peace Game. Seats will be screened at the Global Peace Film Festival on both Saturday 9/22 and Sunday 9/23. National attention has also been generated about the Books Behind Bars class over the past few months. In early July the Washington Post covered the class with a specific focus on a University of Virginia student who was part of this year’s class who had earlier in his life been a resident of the correctional center. Truly an inspiring story as to how education changes lives and why we need to advocate for more educational opportunities for our incarcerated youth. And in late May, this student and Andrew Kaufman were interviewed on the Megyn Kelly Today show, which was introduced by two minutes of clips from our film. Our hope is that this attention generates screenings around the U.S. and beyond. If you are interested in bringing this film to your community, please contact me at chris.farina@rosaliafilms.com. What we do know is that we cannot succeed without your support. The film is deeply in debt so we need donations to have the resources necessary to properly share the film and fulfill its mission. To make a tax-deductible donation, please visit: https://rosaliafilms.com/support/ And thanks to all of you who have provided past support. We would not be on the cusp of releasing Seats at the Table without your kind and generous donations. Sincerely, Chris Farina Rosalia Films |
