The British Academy's free festival of ideas is back!
Calling all curious minds — it's almost Summer Showcase time! This annual festival by the British Academy is all about inspiring visitors to think differently about the world around them, via an eclectic programme of exhibits, talks, workshops and performances. And the best bit? It's totally free to attend!
Watch live woodcarving, dabble in calligraphy, get to grips with the nature of conspiracy theories, and ponder the future of cities, with leading thinkers in the fields of history, psychology, sociology and more. (The British Academy is the UK's national hub for the humanities and social sciences, so these really are the experts.) Such disciplines are brought to life through an array of bold installations, some boasting interactive elements — so expect a feast for the senses, as well as nourishment for the mind.
The British Academy Summer Showcase 2022 runs 17-18 June at 10-11 Carlton House Terrace in Westminster. Even if the festival line-up wasn't so stacked, it'd still be worth a visit if only to admire the beauty of this Grade I-listed HQ — think grand Georgian columns, sweeping staircases and glittering chandeliers.
