Worker protest turns violent at iPhone factory in India

Thousands of contract workers in India damaged an iPhone factory operated by Wistron in a demand for better working conditions and hours as well as unpaid wages, with damages estimated at $60 million. Apple announced it is investigating whether Wistron is in breach of supplier guidelines.

About 44% of companies have official flexible working policies, an increase from 24% before the pandemic, and 65% of employees feel positive about opportunities for flexible working, according to research from the ADP Research Institute. The research also found that HR is playing a more strategic role, that psychological safety and confidence in leadership are vital for high worker resilience, and a "human element is playing a more profound role at work," says ADP's Tara Wolckenhauer.

A survey from Smart found that 13% of Americans older than 55 plan to delay their retirement because of the coronavirus pandemic, with 18% of that group planning to wait until they are at least 70 to retire. The survey also found that 42% of people age 55 and older have never received any professional financial advice, while 43% said they would like help managing their retirement finances.
