Good morning Valued Subscriber,
Following the spectacular collapse of a number of building firms in the territory, it's subcontractors and staff who are left to count the costs. And for some attached to a recent liquidation, they say they're owed millions. Fed up, but still just trying to earn a living, they are urging reform to prevent them from missing out on pay. Lucinda Garbutt-Young has the story. The Labor-Greens coalition might have petered out in the ACT Assembly following the 2024 election. And now a curious new connection could be forged in the chambers. Opposition Leader Leanne Castley tells Lucy Bladen she is open to talks with the Greens on some key issues. Wasn't talking with the Greens a reason Ms Castley cited for rolling her predecessor Elizabeth Lee? Curious indeed. As the US and the world readies for a second round of a Donald Trump presidency, political analyst Mark Kenny looks at where it keeps going wrong for progressive parties on the global stage. Mark says he thought Kamala Harris was going to win the US election. But there is a lesson, he says, for progressives to learn how to communicate with average people. We've got clear skies and a toasty top of 27 degrees forecast for this Sunday. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. |
