Dear Friend,
Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina!
A Conversation on the Economy
This week, we learned that the U.S. economy shrank in the first quarter of 2022, with our gross domestic product declining by 1.4 percent. Meanwhile, inflation continues to soar. This is more proof that the Biden administration fundamentally does not understand the American economy, and the most vulnerable in this nation—people living paycheck-to-paycheck—are paying the price… literally.
I joined Charles Payne on Fox Business to discuss this mishandling of our economy and how Republican policies can help turn the tide. Click below to watch the interview!

Supporting Small Businesses
Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy. That’s why I introduced a bill along with Senator Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) to ensure they can compete with larger companies.
Our Increasing Small Business Retirement Choices Act would make it easier for small businesses to offer retirement benefits to their workers by reducing burdensome administrative costs. As ranking member of the U.S. Special Senate Committee on Aging, I look forward to seeing how this bill could help millions of Americans save for retirement. Click here to read more.
Relief for SC’s Auto Dealers
Ongoing supply chain disruptions have created a significant additional tax burden for South Carolina auto dealers who are unable to access crucial inventory. This week, Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and I introduced legislation to provide temporary relief for these businesses that employ thousands of workers across the Palmetto State. Salute to our Heroes
If you have served in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, don’t miss my special homecoming event next Saturday, May 7, in Charleston. This will be a time to honor the Americans who have risked everything to keep our great nation — and the entire world — safe. Click below to RSVP!
