April 20, 2022

What a week in terms of travel news, eh? Wow. My head was spinning on Tuesday after news broke that a federal judge in Florida had struck down the CDC's mask mandate and that the TSA wasn't going to enforce it. One by one, airlines started to announce that they were making face masks optional (here's the list). I did a number of interviews on the topic, including two on News Nation (photo above compliments of my sister Georgette).

My sister Carol just happened to be boarding a Delta flight from New York (LGA) to Florida (PBI) within minutes of Delta's announcement so she captured video of what I think is the first Delta flight attendant announcement that masks were now optional. It received mixed reviews and she said the majority of the passengers kept them on.

I have mixed feelings on the ruling, which I wrote about at the bottom of this post

The announcement that face masks are now optional on airplanes and in airports as well as on public transportation has some people cheering and others worried about the consequences. If you fall into the latter camp, here are some tips to help. Read the story here.

Travel Quote of the Week
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." ~ Mark Twain

Travel Tweet of the Day
@FlyingWithSara: My cab driver just asked me if I was tired of the masks (we’re both wearing one) then he said, “I’m tired of the masks especially in the heat, but I’m wearing it because I don’t want to get sick and I don’t want to get anyone else sick. It’s a basic respect issue.”
