Sightline Institute headline: Automatic Voter Registration Continues to Kick Ass in Oregon

New reporting has found that 94 percent of eligible Oregon voters are now registered to vote and kept up-to-date, thanks in part to Automatic Voter Registration.

Since being signed into law by Governor Kate Brown in 2015, AVR has helped register more than 800,000 new Oregon voters!

Oregon has long been a leader in making it easier for people to vote, and Democrats are fighting to increase access to the ballot. Chip in to help elect Oregon Democrats up and down the ballot.

Oregonians are proud to be the first state in the nation with universal vote-by-mail. But Oregon Democrats aren't resting on our laurels — we're always pushing for ways to make our elections safer, more accessible, and more secure.

  • Oregon was the first state to adopt automatic voter registration in 2015.
  • In 2020, Oregon added pre-paid postage on all Oregon ballot return envelopes.
  • Starting next year, Oregon will accept ballots that are postmarked by Election Day!

While some Republican-led states are in a race to the bottom to restrict access to the ballot, Oregon Democrats are fighting to make one of the most progressive voting systems in the country even better. If you're able, please chip in to the Democratic Party of Oregon today.

Thank you,

— Oregon Democrats
