No man is an island, and no football player is either. JuJu Smith-Schuster found that out the hard way in 2019. After a historic start to his career for a player his age, Smith-Schuster was expected to take a step forward in his first chance to play as a true No. 1. Unfortunately, Ben Roethlisberger went down with an elbow injury early on and Smith-Schuster dealt with injuries of his own, all of which prevented him taking the superstar leap we expected.
Skill matters as much at wide receiver as anywhere else, but situation matters too. It's a significant question for Smith-Schuster yet again, but it's perhaps an even bigger one for DeAndre Hopkins, who leaves Deshaun Watson and the Texans for Kyler Murray and the Cardinals. It could be an upgrade in situation -- after all, the Cardinals figure to throw the ball quite a bit more. However, with the Cardinals wide-open offense and a quarterback just entering his second season, it's fair to wonder whether Hopkins is situated to be his best self.
That is one of just many questions the wide receiver position poses for Fantasy players and analysts heading into 2020.
