| Writing a strong query letter for both fiction and nonfiction requires a great hook and clear premise. The first sentence should immediately catch the reader's attention, while the ending should leave the reader wanting to dive into the pages of the manuscript or proposal. Jaida Temperly is a literary agent who is drawn to quirky, dark stories. She also tends to enjoy love stories with strong mystery, art history, or religious understones. JL Stermer is growing her fiction list and is looking for voices that reflect the world as it changes.
