Yanko Design - Form Beyond Function |
Posted: 27 Jul 2016 09:15 AM PDT Get ready for a bad case of it! The Luxury Kitchen Armagh is a refurbished project for clients that wanted “wow factor” features. Features like a waterfall island, custom sliding door cabinetry, a purposefully placed pivot door, hidden mood and task lighting, and more. Each thoughtfully crafted to compliment the minimal, clean aesthetic of an open space that still maintains room distinction. In solid ash and stark white, it’s a fresh and perfect canvas for accenting with greenery and meaningful objects. Do want! Designer: Designer Kitchen by Morgan |
A Baby Sling for Hipster Parents! Posted: 27 Jul 2016 03:20 AM PDT Not only aesthetically awesome, the Roga baby carrier is uniquely functional to make parents’ lives easier (and more stylish!). The flexible design envelopes little ones to rest them safely and comfortably against the parent’s torso. With its soft strap, it’s equally comfortable for Mom or Dad to carry for extended periods of time. Perhaps the only one of its kind, the multifaceted form composed of firm sections also helps it to double as a rigid carrier that can be set on any surface when it’s not being worn. For convenience and space-savings, it can be compacted down and easily stored anywhere from a diaper bag to the car! Designer: Shir Selinson |
Posted: 27 Jul 2016 12:00 AM PDT When we think of gas masks, we immediately envision goggles with a large contraption placed over the mouth. That’s because the design has largely gone unchanged over the years. Perhaps this cumbersome design is not the best solution. The Espire gas mask explores the use of modern material technologies that allow for a lighter, slimmer, sleeker form that enhances comfort by literally turning the archetypical mask upside down! The spin-on filter is now located at the top of the mask to accommodate a transparent mouth section. The air flow is guided in a linear stream from the top of the mask, where the air first interacts with the visor to keep it free from fog. The air then flows through a valve in a divider between the viewing and mouth area. Afterwards the air is exhaled through the outlet valve located at the chin, insuring no exhaled air comes into contact with the visor‘s viewing area. This unobstructed vision is particularly useful for painters, varnishers, and other’s who rely heavily on their sight. As a bonus, the wearer’s communication is much more effective during wear as the transparent mouth section doesn’t interfere with speech and their lips can actually be read! Unconventional Driving Pleasure Posted: 26 Jul 2016 06:10 PM PDT Ever wanted to fly just inches from the ground?! Ok, me neither. But after checking out this concept, you might just wanna give it a shot! The Synthesia concept pushes the boundaries of adrenaline pumping car sports to a whole new level by positioning the single driver in an entirely new way. Rather than sit upright as you would in every other vehicle, the driver is positioned horizontally flat. The user controls the vehicle by utilizing their entire body. The open, fluid shape of the framework exposes the user to the outside environment, stimulating the senses and exerting adrenaline by allowing them to feel every movement made by the vehicle. Without the need to be as tall as production cars, this also gives Synthesia enhanced aerodynamics for intense speed! Designer: Štěpán Král |
Posted: 26 Jul 2016 02:00 PM PDT There’s one sure-shot way to tell if a packaging item is well designed. Sales definitely reflect popularity, but if a user retains the packaging of a product because they see value in it even after the product is over, that’s design gold. The Innovative Precious Tea Can takes that exact approach by making a tea packaging that can be perceived as a product in itself, rather than just an unsuspecting vessel for the tea within it. Its design celebrates tea’s rich oriental history, while the choice of materials most definitely gives it a high-end, premium look to it, convincing you to keep, reuse, and cherish the Tea Can… almost too easily! The can is made of an Aluminum extrusion and is capped with a beautifully yet minimally carved Wood lid. Even though tea is an oriental concept, and the Innovative Precious Tea Can honors that, the design of the tea can has a universal appeal to it, making it truly world class packaging design! Oh, how proud I am to be a tea person! The Innovative Precious Tea Can is a winner of the Red Dot Design Award for the year 2015. Designer: Contact Design Limited |
