Set up, Sit up, Smile, Repeat! Posted: 29 Nov 2016 10:00 AM PST As the parable of the powerful daimyo Mori Motonari’s three arrows goes: “one single component may lack the strength needed, but a plurality of parts united can provide that strength.” Beautifully said, huh?! That’s the idea behind the Mori chair! This puzzling kid’s chair makes the most of playtime, encouraging children to get creative and find reward of helping put it together. It’s intuitive to assemble and doesn’t require any tools, screws or glue. Just 5 parts that can be assembled in a myriad of different ways! Designer: h220430 |
The Dagger-proof Drawstring Duffel Posted: 29 Nov 2016 08:19 AM PST The fact that an anti-slash bag exists itself is a little worrisome but let’s just accept that life isn’t as simple as it used to be and stay on the safer side, shall we? In the most Batman-esque thing to happen to fashion and travel, the Loctote Industrial Bag Company now makes a bag so tough it can literally take a knife to the guts! Crafted out of the same material used in high performance body armor by law enforcers and security workers, the Loctote Flak Sack takes durable to the next level. The fabric of the tote bag takes the center-stage with the Flak Sack, and the design works around this wonder-material. The bag is a simple, soft, and spacious drawstring style tote with a minimalist style. Apart from being slash/tear resistant, the bag also protects your goods from water and even goes the extra mile to provide a pocket that blocks RFID waves from entering your bag. This means it blocks unauthorized scanning of your Credit/ATM Cards or other important documents… because theft can be not just physical but digital too. You even get a brass padlock with the Flak Sack bag to secure it firmly from wary strangers’ hands. Talk about ultimate security! Way to ward off the hackers as well as the hijackers! Most Buzzed Designs of November 2016 Posted: 29 Nov 2016 04:01 AM PST Below you’ll find the most popular designs we’ve tracked over the last 30 days – an overview of designs you shouldn’t have missed in November 2016. The Tessel Jet Pack gives you its stealth-fighter inspired faceted design. Who would’ve thought that a Chinese startup would build an electric car that set a world record lap at the Nürburgring at seven minutes and five seconds, making it the fastest electric car in the world? Today, we bid farewell to the Velcro, and usher in the age of the LABB (Loopless and Buckleless Band). On the rare occasion there isn’t a Starbucks in sight, you’ll be glad you have this 3D cup of joe! The Frame Sofa offers an entirely new way of customizing and switching up your unique style. Its 6 cushions are secured by a tastefully wrapped pipe frame. The 2040 Mercedes-Benz W196R Streamliner concept pays tribute to the original W196R, drawing from its style and technical achievements Huxley’s Ladder incorporates beautiful, modern, and full functionality into your bookshelves while also including wooden ladders built in. Sedat Ozer’s Kaffa allows users to enjoy the Turkish method of coffee brewing from anywhere, without the need for fire. Unlike flat-faced pilot watches, this alternative timepiece features a vertical tourbillon. 3 hours and $1200 is all it takes to have the cutest tiny house in the world! Bikes don’t have windows, don’t have ACs, seatbelts… and so on. They also don’t have music systems. Until now. The Butler is a robotic wine cellar that is intelligent enough to recommend the perfect wine to you based on personal tastes. Vintage will always have a cool quotient… and nothing can ever be cooler than a Nixie Tube! The Mercedes Concept I is a rather sculpted conceptual coupe design that has the correct curves in the correct places. The TILT speaker speciality is that it can switch between unidirectional and omnidirectional. |
Personal Audio with the personal touch Posted: 28 Nov 2016 02:34 PM PST I may rant about audio day and night, talking about super cool earphones or amazing bluetooth speakers, but nothing’s quite as awesome as a designer who decided to just build his own speaker. The OBE speaker isn’t off the shelf. It’s a one-of-a-kind DIY speaker that’s been custom designed to suit personal preferences. The relatively mid-sized casing houses 2 5W speakers and 2 rear facing passive radiators that churn out some sweet bass. The design is simple, owing to the bespoke quality of the speaker, and is made from wood panels, a great material choice for acoustic fidelity. I genuinely wonder what these sound like! Posted: 28 Nov 2016 12:13 PM PST Caustics. Ah! The beautiful refractive web of light at the bottom of a pool that dances to the movement of the water. Caustics look beautiful and give a sense of volume because they indicate that light has passed through something dense. However that isn’t the case with the Caustics chair. Designed to give the illusion of the caustic effect, the chair uses a thin, virtually transparent fabric held together on a chair-frame. The fabric intersects itself in a way that makes it look almost like a caustic effect from afar. However, in reality the chair is feather light, and an absolute delight to look at from any angle!
