The dark side needs night-vision! Posted: 15 Dec 2016 12:00 PM PST The perfect surveillance camera for your home, the Vader cam is sure to deter criminals! Just the perfect cross between playful yet powerful, this adorable little Sith lord records video footage of your home. Just the kind of thing we could expect from the guys at PDF Haus! PDF Haus has carved their niche in something I call design fusion. They take two concepts (in this case Darth Vader and Surveillance tech) and merge them together to see what kind of awesome product could arise from an unlikely combination. Like the ones before, the Vader cam gets my thumbs up too! Designers: Kim Hyeonseok & PDF Haus. |
Posted: 15 Dec 2016 09:43 AM PST The energy required for pumping, bottling, and transporting bottled water is nearly 1000 times higher than tap water! So why do we insist on continuing to use bottles (especially when we know where that material waste ends up)? The simple answer is… because we want the best taste. The OE Filtering Carafe improves taste and quality using a filtering system that won’t let you forget to change it on time. The mechanical dial located directly on top of the unit acts as a sort of timer, driven by the flow of water pouring out. The dial will signal when it’s best to swap the filter based on the amount of water that has passed and not just the amount time it’s been used. Better yet, the filter chip itself can be replaced without throwing away a big bulky piece of plastic each time! Designer: Coline Prévost |
Posted: 15 Dec 2016 06:12 AM PST Yes, we’ve covered at least a thousand coffee makers. And if there’s one thing we’ve noticed, with time everyone is moving in the same direction. We all want better coffee, faster, and machines are gradually becoming experts, connecting to the internet, downloading recipes, ordering your coffee beans for you, taking voice commands, etc. Every coffee maker today is virtually our dedicated caffeine concocting butler. While that’s a good approach, ultimately you’re missing out on one of the most enriching coffee experiences (aside from drinking it of course!) The act of brewing your own coffee is getting lost with time, but the Gina coffee maker stays true to its roots. Made by the guys who got us the Goat mug you can rest assured these guys are loco about their coffee! The Gina coffee brewer is smart like all other up and coming brewers, but it’s the correct level of smart. It doesn’t make you, the user, feel dumb, or reduce you to being a simple button-pusher. Gina invites you to tinker and experiment with its coffee making techniques, so you can brew your best kind of coffee. The smart brewer helps you record the technique so you can have your own custom recipe for others to see and implement. Since Gina’s all about experimenting with your brew, its design gives you the freedom to prepare your brew in different ways. You can choose between immersion, pour-over, french press, and cold drip, giving you complete control over the flavor, intensity, and mouthfeel of your coffee. The Gina even goes as far as to provide you with a measuring scale so that you can calibrate your recipe down to each ounce! After all, it’s your coffee…and only you understand what you want, not some tech-loaded machine! Designer: Luka Pirnat Buy It Here: $160.00 $245.00 Hurry! Only 86 left of 1400 |
Posted: 15 Dec 2016 04:31 AM PST Night lights and baby monitors are must-haves for parents and little ones alike. Lümin combines both into one hybrid unit designed to grow up with baby. Controllable via a mobile app, it features an HD camera that you can control remotely. The wide angle lens allows you to take in the whole picture with adjustable zoom functionality. As your baby grows up, it can be taken on your child’s nighttime adventures, whether its going to the loo or checking for monsters! When removed from the dock the auto align feature remembers to rotate back to how you first setup the camera, so it’s always ready to record in the proper position. Handmade for Hipster Audiophiles Posted: 15 Dec 2016 01:10 AM PST The big brother to the uber-cool Sonic Architect VAI speaker, the SRV is the amalgamation of digital fabrication, DIY and handcraftsmanship. Its vintage character comes from the combination of materials like wood, leather and a classic-looking MDF lasercut grill. Each system is handmade using Sagwan wood and hand assembled. Despite its minimal form, it packs a punch with full range drivers and an efficient class D amplifier. Rechargeable, it can provide up to 25 hours worth of portable fun! Designer: Sahil Thappa |
Posted: 14 Dec 2016 06:02 PM PST We like it when people think different. While the world focuses on creating the perfect suitcase, that climbs up stairs, that you can track in transit, that come with RFID blocking, or that turns into your wardrobe, there are still certain tiny yet frustrating aspects to traveling that haven’t occurred to most problem-solvers. For instance, what do you do when your shampoo or shower gel, or body cream go all crazy and burst or open inside the case while travelling? Suitcases that come with waterproof compartments on the inside just protect you from damage, they don’t prevent the damage in the first place. The Tic is the product that results out of thinking differently. This ‘bottle’ is designed to hold all your cosmetic liquids in a spill-proof container that even doubles as a dispenser. The Tic travel bottle is designed to be three things. Compact, convenient, and secure. You can choose between Shower and Skin variants of Tic, or even pick both. The compact design comes with mini bottles that fit into the larger outer case. The outer case comes with a sleeve that when you slide down becomes your dispensing area. Just place your hand in the cavity, and you can easily dispense your shampoo or conditioner, trouble free! An added advantage is that since they’re kept upside down, you use up every bit of the liquid. Isn’t that just convenient?! Like I said earlier, they’re secure too. The Tic bottles have gone through rigorous testing to see if they stand up to their claims, and they definitely do! What’s more, each individual bottle even comes with measurement markings, giving you an exact idea of how much liquid you’re carrying, so you’ll never run into trouble at the airport! And here’s a little easter egg, the Tic makes a great addition to your gym or sporting kit! Now isn’t that thinking differently?? Designer: Ben Tsoi Buy It Here: $20 $38.00 |
Posted: 14 Dec 2016 12:17 PM PST Today marks a big day for drone tech. Amazon, the e-retail giant, conducted its first successful drone delivery today, giving one lucky customer their consignment completely via a drone. Drones, no matter how much you love or hate them, have come a long way in the past decade, and If you were to ask me what the coming decade would look like, I’d give you a simple answer. Drone NASCAR. Or NASDAR? nepdesign seems to share that very outlook, and have given us a taste of the drone racing world with their Racing Drone concept. Designed with a sort of 360° streamlined shape, these drones are about looking badass, and slicing through the air with absolute speed. In fact, to make them do that with greater efficiency, nepdesign has even visualized a carbon fiber variant. Although how would you make a racetrack for something that flies in the air?? Hmmm… Designer: nepdesign |
