The guys at XD Design have a reputation of building some of the most criminal-confusing bags. Their bags are designed to cater to the user’s style statement and safety equally. These bags are not only beautiful to look at, they’re bafflingly difficult to get into, without the consent of the owner. The original Bobby backpack’s design sought to make the bag impenetrable by pushing the zipper closer to the wearer, making it difficult to access if someone was wearing the bag. The revised version, titled the Bobby Urban, puts the zipper in an even more confounding position, and secures the bag’s contents in a cut-proof fabric.

Committed to their motto of making the world’s most theft-resistant bags, the Bobby Urban comes with a concealed zipper, further made safer by a steel reinforced combination lock. The bag comes with a roll-top design that not only hides the zipper, it also allows you to control the bag’s inner capacity by determining how much you roll the top. Once the zipper is secure, snap shut the combination lock for added protection. Aside from providing a second layer of security, the combination lock can even be used to fasten the bag to an immovable object like a bench or a lamppost as you would with a bicycle. With the zip inaccessible, the lock unbreakable, and the fabric un-rippable, the only conceivable way to break into the bag would be with the aid of heavy machinery.

The Bobby Urban’s roll-top design gives it a whopping 27 liters of capacity when unrolled, making it perfect for everything from your everyday commute to long travels, allowing you to increase or decrease the bag’s size depending on need. A compartmentalized interior allows you to segregate items, while any extra/bulky items can be tethered to the outside using the additional netting provided. Looking at the term theft through a much wider lens, not only is the bag physically impenetrable, it even comes with an RFID secure pocket too, deterring digital theft as well.

With its signature combination of style, storage, and security (not necessarily in that order), the Bobby Urban may just literally be the most theft-proof backpack in the consumer market. If Indiana Jones Used a Keyboard

You’ll look like the office bada$$ if you gear up with the latest design from Anton Rickmon, simply called the Ergonomic Keyboard. This wearable (or not) QWERTY with integrated trackball adapts to the human body by utilizing a flexible connecting pad. The result is enhanced ergonomics while you work at your standing desk. Should you choose to sit, you can keep it in your lap or move it to your desk to use as you would a normal keyboard. In 3 cool colors including BLACK MOON, DEEP SPACE and CAMO, there’s a style for every taste of office aesthetic!

Designed to be an effective mounting solution, the clip is adjustable in the two axis necessary for completed positional control. Simple height and rotation adjustment allows for a wide range of ergonomic profiles in order to allow the user total control over their size preferences. The clip is also designed to seamlessly retract into a stored position when out of use allowing the keyboard to cleanly sit on any workspace environment.

When it comes to connecting the trackball, a couple of options are available. It may be possible to connect the trackpad in a similar way to the iPad Keyboard – by making use of a magnetic snap system. It would allow quick, easy and intuitive attachment.

Considering the nature of both input options, they could be seamlessly integrated into the product or even made detachable. That provides added value to the user when using the keyboard on a desk. They could continue to use the pad as the primary input device. Alternatively, they could quickly switch to a mouse and incorporate the pad as a secondary controller option, to be used where they see fit.

It was also crucial to consider a desktop use. Adding an inbuilt trackpad or touchpad takes up more space than would be desired. The benefit of integrating a detachable trackball in the design above – the user can choose to work with the trackball as a primary or secondary mouse to suit their needs, positioning it out of the way if not required or close by to suit their preferences.

One Otherworldly Telescope

The Nebu telescope takes on the spherical form of the very celestial bodies it’s designed to observe! As sculptural as it is functional, this modern twist on the telescope provokes the imagination as both a decorative piece and as a tool for heavenly exploration. The shape actually takes inspiration from the original Astroscan of the 1970s. The user experience is also similar in that they can freely move around the telescope to achieve the desired angle and position thanks to the versatile, moving base.

This citrus juicer floats my boat!

The AHOI showcases an abstract combination of two identities, turning them into one form. On the one hand, it’s a pretty cute looking toy boat. It has the origami-style edgy design too, and comes in a wonderful set of colors, reminiscent of the colorful paper we used to make boats out of as children. While it visually represents a boat, it’s functionally a citrus juicer. The sail of the boat is shaped like a traditional juicer head (although it doesn’t look out of place with the rest of the boat’s design) and works against a cross-section of a citrus fruit, gathering all the juice in the boat’s concavity. The boat’s design not only collects the juice, its pointed sides also let you pour the juice out easily. Makes sense all around, doesn’t it?! The AHOI comes in two sizes. A slightly larger version for oranges, and a smaller one for lemons and limes.

The AHOI by Koziol is just brilliantly playful, and whether you’re a child or adult, you’re going to love using the juicer… in fact, the only way it could be possibly better is if there were a citrusy, Yellow Submarine edition!

The Renault XY uses sheet metal like fabric!

I have complex feelings about the Renault XY. It looks like this absolutely fluid piece of metal, almost as if the car itself was covered by a piece of cloth. While I believe it adds a remarkably different aesthetic to the car, I’m not sure if I like it yet, because it seems a little too radical to me. Give it a few years and maybe it won’t feel so ahead of its time.

The XY was built keeping the future system or ride-sharing in mind. Its design, says Jang, was made to appeal to both males and females, with a form that is fluid and gender-agnostic. The two-seater comes with a streamlined design comprising incredibly slim headlights and taillamps. Even the gold color is said to appeal equally both genders. Lastly, adding a bit of luxury to the ride is the Renault suitcase (something Rolls Royce has done in the past too), that mirrors the style of the car and comes with its own biometric lock. Like I said, give it another 5 years, and maybe the Renault XY concept will actually look incredibly dreamy. For now, it’s interesting for sure, but a little too visually futuristic.

Lego-compatible furniture for your inner-child!

Studio NINE’s Lego compatible furniture aims at being a playground for your children. The furniture comes with a machined textured layer that’s all too familiar. Made from Corian, the polymer-based marble substitute, the furniture has a premium feel and a simple design… The purpose of this simple design being twofold. It can either blend well into a house with Scandinavian styling, or can be infinitely decorated by using pieces of Lego that just simply snap onto the furniture’s dot-embossed surface. Yes, it also means lesser chances of your foot accidentally stepping on a loose piece of Lego lying around on the floor… Plus, like Lego itself, the furniture is perfect for all people of all ages!
