Cost of home rentals drops in many US cities

Zumper's Annual Rent Report reveals that out of 100 cities analyzed, 55 have experienced a drop in rent prices since last year, with an additional 17 cities showing stable rents year-over-year. The report anticipates a continued softening of rent prices through the first half of 2024.

Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago President Austan Goolsbee said that there has been significant progress in the inflation fight in 2023 but cautioned that it is too early to declare victory. As a result, "the data is going to drive what's going to happen to rates," Goolsbee said.
