While the oil companies might be complaining about swimming in unsold gas and oil, their plastics partners are having the time of their life because so many people are ordering in food. After my wife and kids spent Sunday canning tomatoes, they were exhausted and hungry and we ordered Chinese food, which came in 12 plastic and foam containers. I weighed them and at 6 grams of carbon for a gram of plastic, figure that the packaging had a footprint of 4.652 kg of CO2. Every time anyone does this, it's more carbon, more driving, more waste, all in the name of convenience.
