I like to think I take good care of my two poodles, but until recently, I was overlooking a major health risk: Dogs can get sunburned, just like humans.

As a heat wave blasts through much of the U.S., I asked veterinarians how to tell if your dog has a sunburn, what to do about it, and why you should be applying doggy sunscreen.
