Our friend and cartoonist Jeff Koterba is very close to his crowd-funding goal to help keep him drawing editorial cartoons after losing his political cartooning job of over 30 years in Omaha. Jeff's cartoons are free for you on our Cagle.com site which has no ads, and with newspapers disappearing Jeff is looking for support from fans like you, who appreciate the contribution he makes to the public debate. We're trying something new with crowd-funding for the editorial cartoonists. Think of it like a tip jar, or cartoon busking. As newspapers decline we're hoping that the fans will choose to contribute a little to particular cartoonists who they like, to make it possible for the cartoonists to afford to keep drawing. We think editorial cartoons are important, and with a little support from fans, we can keep our art form alive as newspapers fade away. We're highlighting a new cartoonist each month on the front page of Cagle.com, and Jeff is near the end of his month. It would be great to see Jeff make his goal of $5,000.00, and it would make a big difference for Jeff. Please visit Jeff's "landing page" at Cagle.com/Koterba. A selection of Jeff's recent cartoons is below. Thanks for being a fan of what we do. -- Daryl Cagle |
