A few years ago, before I knew that unless you adjust your settings, LinkedIn will let people know that you looked at their page, I pulled up the profile of someone I knew from college but hadn’t spoken to since. I simply wondered if they’d ever achieved the career they had planned, but once I learned they would know that I’d looked them up, I was absolutely mortified.
