You could pay more in property taxes

Happy Monday, Acadiana Business newsletter readers. It's time for headlines.

Here's a slow train coming: the soaring real estate prices would eventually mean higher property tax bills for homeowners. 

According to assessor Conrad Comeaux, properties were reassessed and their values went up overall about 6.5%.

"Housing prices just went bananas the last four years," he said.
