Use updated LS, EC review tool to get back into survey readiness

As The Joint Commission (TJC) begins its unannounced, on-site surveys again, review the updated Life Safety & Environment of Care Document List and Review Tool in the 2021 Survey Activity Guide (SAG) to get back into survey readiness form.

TJC has been promising to provide various updates on survey processes and procedures in the 2021 SAG, but it was delayed by several months before finally being published online in mid-March.

TJC to begin unannounced, on-site survey visits again

The Joint Commission (TJC) is returning to its more traditional survey activities—on-site and unannounced—as of March 15.

In a statement March 10, TJC noted that COVID-19 caseloads have been decreasing. As such, “The Joint Commission will return to its usual procedures prior to the pandemic. Organizations will no longer be receiving a phone call or email from their account executive when it has been determined the area is low risk for The Joint Commission’s accreditation survey team to visit. All available resources will be utilized to conduct on-site, unannounced accreditation surveys.”
