The complicated surgery lasted eleven and a half hours. Ian returned to work some months later. Then a shock followed in May 2015 during a follow up visit with his surgeon. A swollen lymph gland was discovered on the other side of Ian’s neck. A second radical neck surgery was performed to remove approximately 40 lymph nodes. This is borne out by Ian when he says, “The people from CANSA were awesome, and were with me every step of the way”. “CANSA also invited me to share my story on several public platforms, including at the annual Relay For Life. During my first event as we (the survivors) started walking our lap, all the people started clapping. I didn’t get it . . . then I realised they were clapping for us, the survivors! I had tears in my eyes. I now attend the Relay For Life every year, meeting and sharing experiences with some amazing and very brave people. Friend, as one of Ian’s named ‘people from CANSA’, you play a significant role in the lives of many cancer patients and their families. With that realisation, could you find it in your heart to extend your kindness by clicking here to make you donation right now? Thank you.
