Dear reader,
I like to argue that Toronto grew up in the years since the pandemic. That the attention-seeking cries for acceptance typical of younger urban centres have today been replaced today by confident expressions of alpha-city adulthood: population explosions, a super-tall skyline that’s only getting more super, and unprecedented international investment from people dying to live and work here. Growth does bring growing pains—but that also means the city’s most important years are still ahead.
So with all this top of mind, Toronto Life has launched This City Live, our first-ever summit for city-building and real estate, and you’re invited. Presented by Tricon Residential on February 18 at the stunning Schwartz Reisman Innovation Campus at U of T, the event brings together some of Toronto’s top leaders in urban affairs, including:
• Olivia Chow, mayor of Toronto
• Gary Berman, CEO of Tricon Residential
• Benjamin Tal, deputy chief economist at CIBC
• Andrew Joyner, managing director and head of multi-family with Tricon Residential
•Laura Miller, director of public policy at Uber Canada
• Satish Kanwar, co-founder of Good Future
• Ruth Crammond, vice-president of community infrastructure with United Way Greater Toronto.
This City Live is a chance to join a conversation about the future of the town we all love, in an inspiring setting, with tons of smart people enjoying delicious food and drinks. Ihope to see you there.
