Good morning! Over the past few months, I’ve sent you several emails to help you get more done in less time so you can make more money. Not surprisingly, these tips quickly became some of the most viewed posts on the Early to Rise website (which is saying something considering we have published more than 10,000 pieces of content over the years). We all want to get more done. And we all want to achieve more success. But working more isn’t the answer, even though so many “gurus” tell you: If you aren’t making the money you want...You’re not working hard enough. Listen, working more and working harder isn’t an option. Your calendar probably already looks like this: Too many well-meaning and ambitious ETR readers have become so caught up in the “hustle and grind” mentality that they’ve never stopped to ask themselves if there was a better way. A great example of this is my client Frank Den Blanken: When we first started working together, Frank was generating about $15,000 a month in revenue. But he was working more than 80 hours a week to do it. He never took ‘real’ vacations and was struggling to make time to spend with his wife. Worst of all, Frank, despite the number of hours he was clocking each week still thought that he wasn’t working hard enough. He thought that the only solution was to put in even more hours and do more ‘stuff’ to grow his business. But after working with him for less than a week, I realized that Frank was wasting more than 20 hours a week on projects that were actually slowing his progress down. And in just a few short months I helped him dramatically increase his income while working less and spending more time doing things he loved. Now, I’ll tell you exactly what I helped Frank and his business do in tomorrow’s email (you will not believe his transformation), but his story illustrates an important lesson that every entrepreneur needs to understand. Working more hours is not the solution the “Celeb-preneurs” claim it to be. (A celeb-preneur is a Celebrity Entrepreneur that people listen to, often irrationally, as the “guru” for everything related to being an entrepreneur… because truly successful business owners are too focused on running their business to be giving speeches on social media.) Think about it. There are two types of people in this world. First, there are reactive, unsuccessful, struggling people. They are always running late and always complaining about how busy they are, how there’s “never enough time in the day,” and how they’re so overwhelmed. Second, there are pro-active, uber-successful people. They are the ones making more money and leading bigger projects while working less than half the hours and still getting home on time for dinner with the family. Even though they’re making high-6-figures or even 7-figures and managing a team with dozens of employees... ...They still finish work by 5pm, go to the gym regularly, and make time for a weekly date night with their spouse. What gives? You see, we all like to think we’re busy, but when we look at those entrepreneurs achieving bigger goals faster with the same 168 hours a week… we have no explanation as to why we’re struggling to make progress. So let me offer 3 simple suggestions to help you with this: 1. The most successful people I know spend only 10% of their time thinking about “how” to do things (e.g. apps, tactics, and productivity hacks) and 90% of their time thinking about WHAT they must do to achieve their goals and WHO can help them go faster. 2. The people I know who are struggling do the exact opposite. They spend all of their time researching HOW to be more efficient without ever considering whether the projects they are pursuing are even worth doing efficiently. 3. The BIGGEST periods of growth both in my own businesses and the businesses of my clients NEVER resulted from putting in more hours or doing more ‘things’... They came from working fewer hours on the right things - because I had the right WHO in place. Now… How do you actually use these suggestions to grow your business faster without adding more items to your never ending to-do list? Over the next few days, I’ll be sending you some free tools and material to help you do exactly that. But before I send anything else, I want to hear from you... What is your #1 struggle with time management? Can you predictably grow your income without increasing the number of hours you work each week? Hit ‘reply’ and let me know. My team and I read every email. Keep an eye out for tomorrow’s email. I promise you won’t want to miss it. To Your Success, Craig |
