Stick around following the film for the Kentucky premiere of Toe by local filmmakers Neal O'Bryan and Chad Thurman. This animated short is based on the classic from "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" and directors will host a discussion on their movie making experience, the science of stop motion, and more. |

Louisville Maker Faire |

| September 28 & 29 University of Louisville 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating and curious people who enjoy learning and love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists and scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these makers to show hobbies, experiments, and projects. Kentucky Science Center will have several activities at this year's Maker Faire, including Pendulum Painting, Giant Stop Motion, 3D Pens, Frankentoys, and more. School's Out Science Camp |

| JCPS may be out, but camps are in at Kentucky Science Center! Want a fun, hands-on experience for your kids? School’s Out Science Camps offer exciting educational experiences for little scientists! Join us for unique topics designed to inform, engage and entertain. This fall we are lifting off and blasting out of this world with all aviation and space themes for scientists of every age! Soar into the world of flight and come fly to the moon and back as we explore our solar system and the wonders of space. Fall Break Camp Dates: October 4, 7, 8 Camp Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Drop-off: 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. Pick-up: 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. |

Volunteer Appreciation |

Last week, we hosted our annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, where we celebrated our 292 adult and group volunteers from the last fiscal year! These volunteers contributed more than 4,321.5 volunteer hours, worth almost $107,000! One of our volunteers, Dottie, celebrated her 33rd year of volunteer service, with more than 6,000 total volunteer hours! |

| The Make it Glow award is presented to volunteers who show exemplary service in their volunteer time. This year's winners were Marla and Phil, who provided volunteer hours in our Visitor Experience, Visitor Services, and Collections departments. |
|
The Staff of the Year Award is given to an employee who goes above and beyond to make sure the volunteers have an enjoyable experience at the Science Center. This year's winner was Veronica, who runs our Challenger Learning Center, among other duties. | |
