November 2016 | Engaging the next generation of Rotary leaders

100 years of doing good in the world

This month we’re celebrating the good you do through the Rotary Foundation. And this year our Rotary Foundation turns 100! That’s a century of changing lives and improving communities all over the world. Not only are our young leaders benefiting from your support through district grants and scholarships, but they’re doing their part to give too! Join the centennial celebration—learn more about how you can commemorate this historic milestone and see how young leaders around the world are already helping fight disease, promote peace, and provide basic education:

Raise awareness. Interactors in district 5160 supported their district’s End Polio Now campaign by making a video to raise awareness about the issue.
Spread the word. The Rotary, Rotaract, and Interact clubs of Daet North host a weekly radio program to share how they take action and invite the community to join projects, fundraisers, and Foundation Centennial celebrations in the Philippines.
FUNdraise. Fundraising is fun when you organize a bowling night, a concert, a 5k race, or a party that benefits the Rotary Foundation, like Rotarians and Rotaractors in Scotland who hosted a fashion show for PolioPlus.
Join a movement. The Interact Club of La Paz, Bolivia is organizing an International Donation Day this month. Join their fundraising event or start your own!

	Five reasons to make a video for the Interact Video Awards Now through 2 December Interactors can submit a video to the 8th annual Interact Video Awards. Creating a video shows the world how Interact clubs make a difference. Discover five reasons why Interactors should pick up a camera and get started! Join us for the Rotaract Preconvention in Atlanta The Rotaract Preconvention travels to Atlanta, Georgia, USA 8-9 June 2017. Join Rotaractors and Rotarians to exchange ideas, learn from engaging speakers, and connect with the global community to create positive change. Experience the hospitality of the American South and stay to connect with thousands of Rotarians at the Rotary International Convention. Register before 15 December to secure early registration savings. World Toilet Day On 19 November the United Nations recognizes World Toilet Day to raise awareness and inspire action to address the global sanitation crisis. 2.4 billion people today struggle to stay healthy without access to proper toilet sanitation. Visit worldtoiletday.info for resources and simple ways you can take action. As one of the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, access clean water and sanitation is a top priority for everyone. 	Spotlight on service: World Interact Week

	Celebration through service Earlier this month, Interactors organized a variety of service activities to celebrate 54 years of Interact for World Interact Week. From Asia to Africa and to the Americas, Interactors made a difference in their communities. The Interact Club of Iquitos, Peru (pictured) donated encyclopedias to an Amazonian library. See how everyone celebrated through service on our #WorldInteractWeek social wall. Share your service story! Post your project on Rotary Showcase and email the link to newgenerations@rotary.org

Join us 9-10 June for the Presidential Peace Conference at the Georgia World Congress Center. We’ll celebrate our work on the underlying causes of conflict and our successes in making peace a priority, while also looking ahead to opportunities to continue our commitment.
