🎙️Coming up on Morning Edition: One week from tomorrow, recreational marijuana will be legal in Minnesota. How are law enforcement agencies getting ready for legal marijuana and the possibility of more impaired drivers?

🎧 Coming up at 9 a.m.: The job market in Minnesota may be strong, but that doesn’t mean everyone’s job is secure. Allina Health just announced it would lay off 350 workers, 3M is laying off 1,100 people at its Maplewood headquarters and Wells Fargo is eliminating more than 350 jobs across the country in its home mortgage division, including several dozen in Minnesota. MPR News Angela Davis talks about the job market in Minnesota and what people can do to prepare for and recover from a layoff.

 
Buying time, cities temporarily ban cannabis sales

Marijuana isn’t legal in Minnesota quite yet, but already around the state, communities are pumping the brakes on retail cannabis sales until details of state rules on the licensing process are hammered out. 


Minnesota cops on guard for ‘high way’ drivers in new marijuana era

When recreational marijuana becomes legal in Minnesota next week, law enforcement agencies expect an uptick in use. Officers are stressing that driving high could result in a DWI — and possibly endanger others on the road.

Fargo fallen officer remembered as wanting to "make a difference." On Saturday morning, a long line of law enforcement vehicles escorted Jake Wallin from Fargo to Pequot Lakes. People stood along the highways, holding flags and signs with messages of support.

Endangered Dakota skippers released in renewed prairie landscapeA butterfly species once common on Minnesota’s prairie is fluttering again over native flowers and grasses. Hundreds of endangered Dakota skipper butterflies were re-introduced recently to Glacial Lakes State Park, and now biologists are hoping they thrive there.
