Annie's Project marks two decades of empowering women in agriculture

More women are taking leadership roles in agriculture across Minnesota and the country. Annie’s Project, a program that provides education and support for women in farming, is marking 20 years of helping women take that step.

“As women, of course we like to talk and we like to bounce ideas off other people,” Rachel Gray said. “And my dad would tell you that's the biggest difference between how he farmed and how I farm. If I have a problem or a question, or I'm seeing something in my cattle, I have a network of women that I will call.”
 
Demand for CSA memberships still high after pandemic surge

Community Supported Agriculture deliveries, long a presence in Minnesota, took off during the pandemic. Unlike other pandemic-related trends, there is still strong interest in the food partnerships.

“The thing about farmers markets and the CSA program is getting the opportunity to know your customers individually,” Tim Guldan said. “It’s not just the random number in the spreadsheet that’s keeping your income going.”

Man who killed 1 Fargo officer, hurt 2, was interviewed about guns in 2021 after tip, FBI says. The heavily armed man who killed one Fargo police officer and wounded two as they were investigating a traffic stop had been  interviewed about his guns in 2021 after the FBI received a tip, authorities said Thursday.

New law allows Minnesota students to opt out of shooter drills. The law’s author said the plan is designed to give school districts more guidance and minimize trauma for students during active shooter simulations and drills.

Minnesota sentencing commission hikes penalty for carjacking. The DFL-led Legislature this year approved a change to state law that more clearly defines carjacking as a crime, with penalties set to vary if an alleged offender hurts someone, carries a weapon or implies that they have a weapon in commission of an act.

How much is climate change fueling intense heat across the world? The heat is on for Minnesota this week and heat waves are making news across the world. How can scientists gauge when heat events are normal and when they’re fueled by climate change?

Donald Trump faces additional charges in classified documents case in Florida. The additional allegations of obstruction and willful retention of national defense information were added to the indictment Thursday by Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith's team of prosecutors.
