Minnesota Rokkr Regiment reconnects veterans, active duty members through video game

A Twin Cities based esports organization is helping active service members and veterans build community and talk through common challenges while playing the popular video game, Call of Duty.

Launched in 2021, the Rokkr Regiment has more than 900 members all over the country. Anyone enlisted or a veteran can join for free and get access to online tournaments and community events. 

“It provides something that we were all kind of long [for] in the sense of that teamwork, competitive nature,” Major Jeff Sabatke said. “You know, that just makes us who we are in the military.”

Long wait times and far out appointments frustrate Minnesotans seeking drivers licenses

Nearly a year after the Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services department took steps aimed at reducing wait times for behind the wheel exams, appointments still are hard to come by.

Officials  say continuing staffing shortages are largely to blame for the struggle to nail down an appointment, with backlogs from the pandemic making matters worse.

Singer and songwriter Sixto Rodriguez, subject of 'Searching for Sugar Man' documentary, dies at 81. Sixto Rodriguez, who lived in obscurity as his music career flamed out early in the U.S. only to find success in South Africa and a stardom he was unaware of, died Tuesday in Detroit. He was 81. Vikings defense under Brian Flores is being redone with aggression, deception and freedom. After ranking second-to-last in the NFL in yards allowed and giving up the fourth-most points in the league last season under defensive coordinator Ed Donatell, the Vikings turned to Flores and turned over more than half of their starting lineup.
