Today at the Minnesota State Fair: Angela Davis will be at the MPR booth at 2 p.m. for a recording of Northstar Journey Live. The topic this month is "The Changing Face of Minnesota Farming" — it's all about diversity in the field of agriculture. A perfect topic for the fair!
 
Morris: A small Minnesota town with big climate goals

Morris is getting national attention for efforts to embrace the clean energy transition. It’s a leader in the push for clean energy by taking a practical, local approach to a global challenge.

By 2030 the town aims to produce 80 percent of the energy it consumes from renewable sources and reduce energy use by 30 percent.

 
‘12-day reunion for everybody’: 1 family, 2 State Fair food booths, many grandkids

Running the Big Green Pepper and Strawberry Patch is more than just a money-making venture for the extended Ivory family. It’s a labor of love that helps reconnect generations of family members each year at the Minnesota State Fair.

“It is about having the family out there,” said Shannon Lawson. “There are 19 grandchildren and a gazillion great-grandchildren and it’s really a 12-day reunion for everybody.”
 
What else we're watching:
Brainerd considers contentious question of chlorinating the city's drinking water. Currently, Brainerd is the largest city in Minnesota that doesn't regularly chlorinate its water, only when there's an issue. The city has a long history of fighting additives to its drinking water.

New women's pro hockey league provides sneak peak on its six markets, including Minnesota. Teams will be based in the New York tri-state area, Minnesota, Boston, Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. The PWHL, which will feature a collection of the world's top female players, plans to launch play in January.

How to stick to a budget at the Minnesota State Fair in 2023. Is there a way to have a cheaper day at the fair? MPR News reporter Nicole Ki wanted to find out. She joined guest host Tim Nelson to talk about what she learned.

Relative charged in stabbing of Bloomington couple. Adam Garrett Roring, 44, of Savage is charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.  He’s scheduled to make his first court appearance Tuesday afternoon.
