🎧 Minnesota is a national leader for women’s participation in the workplace. And yet, we also have a wider gender wage gap than most other states. That means women in Minnesota are consistently paid less than men. And over the past decade, we’ve made little progress in closing the wage gap. Coming up at 9 a.m. on Monday, MPR News host Angela Davis talks about the latest research on the wage gap in Minnesota and what we can do to begin to close it.

FAQ: What are DFL lawmakers proposing next on abortion?

Minnesota lawmakers on Monday are set to consider a bill that would offer legal protection for out-of-state patients who travel to Minnesota for abortions and for the providers that treat them.

The move could guard both groups against laws on the books in dozens of other states where abortion is banned or heavily restricted, and where abortion providers and those seeking to terminate a pregnancy face legal penalties.

It’s the latest step by DFL leaders at the Capitol to make Minnesota a legal safe haven for abortion and it comes after lawmakers earlier this year guaranteed the right to reproductive health care — including abortion — in state law.

 
What else we're watching:
A formerly well-connected Republican donor goes on trial Tuesday on federal charges of sex trafficking minors. Anton “Tony” Lazzaro is charged with seven counts involving “commercial sex acts" with five minors ages 15 and 16 in 2020, when he was 30 years old.

Meet the first Gen Z Republican elected to the Minnesota Legislature. Rep. Elliott Engen, 24, took office in January in the Minnesota House of Representatives representing Lino Lakes, Circle Pines, North Oaks, Centerville and White Bear Township.

Students urge University of Minnesota to better fund scholarship, Native American studies. Students and activists protested in the freezing cold to urge the University of Minnesota to follow through on promises to tribal communities. At the top of their list was an expansion of a tuition program that they say too few can access.

‘Support is huge’: Twin Cities program pairs LGBTQ youth with mentors like them. QUEERSPACE collective is one of only a few mentorship programs in the country specifically for queer and transgender youth.
