🎧 Coming up on Morning Edition: Dozens of school districts are holding elections for open board seats in November. And as with previous elections, candidates are getting help from political action groups. As Elizabeth Shockman reports, there’s a new group trying to recruit and train school board candidates.

MPR News host Angela Davis talks with a woman who was diagnosed at age 30 with ADHD and a psychiatrist who pioneered treating ADHD in adults with mindfulness techniques. They’ll talk about the signs of ADHD in girls and women, how it’s diagnosed and some tips to help manage the condition.

New PAC with focus on Minnesota school board candidates launches

Amid concerns that a rising number of candidates with extreme views are seeking school board seats in Minnesota, groups across the political spectrum continue to organize and promote candidates that back their views. The latest: the Minnesota School Board Integrity Project, a political action committee that’s raising money and training candidates for board elections.

“We know that there is a concerted effort to take over our school boards. This is not Florida, this is not Texas, this is Minnesota,” said Kyrstin Schuette, executive director of the School Board Integrity Project.

Stores across Minnesota are selling Narcan over the counter. Here’s what to know. Naloxone, also known by the name brand Narcan, is a medication that rapidly reverses the effects of opioids and can save someone from a fatal overdose. As of early September,  it can be found on shelves and purchased over the counter across the country.

Twins win first playoff game since 2004. The Twins have won their first postseason game since 2004. The 3-1 game against the Toronto Blue Jays is part of a three-game series for the American League Wild Card.

Ex-youth pastor at Duluth church charged with sex abuse. A former youth pastor at a Duluth church was arrested Tuesday and chargedwith sexually abusing five teenage girls. St. Louis County prosecutors said that Jackson Michael Gatlin, 35, assaulted the teens between 2007 and 2010. 

A nationwide emergency alert test is coming to your phone on Wednesday. The test messages will be sent to all cellphones, televisions and radios. The test will emit sound and — on phones — vibration.
