🎧 Coming up on Morning Edition: More than two years after sheriff’s deputies fatally shot Winston Smith atop a Minneapolis parking ramp, cell phone video of the incident has surfaced. The footage has not been made public, but sources tell MPR News that it shows Smith pointing a gun at officers and exchanging gunfire with them. MPR News reporter Matt Sepic brings us the latest.

Owners of first of its kind bodega in Apple Valley didn’t give up on their dreams

Bodegas, or food markets, can offer a taste of home for people living away from home. As the number of Minnesotans with Hispanic heritage has steadily grown, so has the presence of markets which offer authentic tastes of Latin America.

The owners of Bodega 42, who hail from Mexico and El Salvador, say the journey has been long and the work has been hard. The end result is a nearly 22,000-square foot marketplace which also includes a butcher, deli and restaurant that offers authentic tastes of Latin America. 

 
New video showing Winston Smith firing a gun said to emerge

Minneapolis will fight MPD officer's workers' comp claim. Minneapolis will fight a workers' compensation claim from a police officer who severely beat a man during unrest following the killing of George Floyd in May 2020. 

Will Taylor Swift be at the Vikings-Chiefs game in Minneapolis this Sunday? Swift has been seen at other games for the Kansas City Chiefs in support of her alleged beau, tight end Travis Kelce.

Hormel workers announce tentative agreementUnion workers in Austin joined with three other locals from around the country to bargain with Hormel. Workers will vote Monday on ratification.

Plainview on edge as law enforcement investigates student incidents. Law enforcement is investigating two incidents that happened in the days leading up to high school homecoming in the southeastern Minnesota town, including what the police chief describes as an alleged assault.
