Monday's high temperatures will be in the 50s across much of Minnesota. Southwestern Minnesota will see some lower 60s and far northern Minnesota will have highs in the 40s. Above-normal temperatures are expected through the week. Get the latest weather news on Updraft.

Coming up on  Morning EditionGirls on the Run Minnesota hosted its youth 5K event Sunday at the State Fairgrounds. The program seeks to empower young girls through an after school running program that promotes positivity. Reporter Elle Roth brings us the story.

Don Samuels seeks primary rematch against DFL Rep. Ilhan Omar

Next year is shaping up to have a hotly contested rematch in a DFL primary pitting U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar against former Minneapolis City Council member Don Samuels, who opened a second challenge to the incumbent on Sunday.

Samuels narrowly lost his first primary race last year, in which Omar prevailed 50 percent to 48 percent in a five-way contest. Fewer than 2,500 votes separated Omar and Samuels.

 
Hyundai and Kia vehicle owners flock to Twin Cities pop-up clinics for anti-theft software

Hundreds of Hyundai and Kia owners took advantage of pop-up clinics stationed in the Twin Cities area over the weekend to get free anti-theft software installed.

In Minneapolis alone, police have tallied over 4,000 Hyundai and Kia thefts so far this year. The thefts have been of models built from 2011 to 2022.

 
What else we're watching:
St. Paul City Council on track to be all-female, most diverse in history. Two more St. Paul City Council candidates were declared unofficial winners on Friday, further confirming that the city is on track to have an all-female city council in the next term for the first time ever.

Girls on the Run 5K empowers Minnesota youth to reach potential. 1,200 girls crossed the finish line of the Twin Cities Girls on the Run Fall 5K at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds Sunday. It marked the completion of a 10-week after school running program focused on positive physical activity and life skill development.

March to Capitol to call for cease-fire in Gaza. Thousands of people marched to the Minnesota State Capitol on Saturday, marking the fifth week of Twin Cities protests condemning Israel’s response to the Oct. 7 Hamas attack.

Gaza's 2 largest hospitals have ceased to function, health officials say. Al-Shifa, the largest hospital in Gaza, has effectively ceased to function and patient deaths there are rising significantly. Gaza's second largest hospital, Al-Quds, was suspending operations from lack of fuel and electricity.
