Good morning,

Snowfall likely begins in southwestern Minnesota early Tuesday evening. The snow will spread east Tuesday evening. Most models suggest it will arrive in the Twin Cities after about 8 to 9 p.m. Get the latest on Updraft.

🎧 Coming up at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, MPR News host Angela Davis talks about two restaurants — Khyber Pass in St. Paul and Keefer Court in Minneapolis. Both restaurants closed in late 2022. And they’re not the only ones. There are a handful of other longtime Asian-owned restaurants in the Twin Cities that closed in 2022 — like Asia Chow Mein in Columbia Heights and David Fong’s in Bloomington.

'Where power resides' — Flipping privilege in the art curator paradigm

The Emerging Curators Institute is a singular arts entity in the Midwest. It is providing an alternative pathway into a field that has historically been limited to the privileged.

“The field has been limited by those who can get an advanced degree and then perhaps go on to receive a fellowship or an assistantship within museums,” Jehra Patrick says. “So, it's, it's really created a narrow field.”

Weisman Art Museum pop-up exhibit will feature Black Twin Cities artists

Artwork from Black artists around the Twin Cities will be on display Wednesday at the Weisman Art Museum in a pop-up exhibit hosted by the University of Minnesota Black Student Union (BSU).

The exhibit features work by 15 artists in a variety of mediums, including paintings, photography and a short film. The free exhibit will be on display from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is open to the public.
 
What else we're watching:
St. Paul police identify two men killed in weekend shooting. Police said Monday that 34-year-old Larry Jiles Jr. of Hugo and 37-year-old Troy Kennedy of St. Paul were killed in the 500 block of Dale Street North.

Minnesota’s newest city is a 3,200-person community south of the Twin Cities. Empire Township in Dakota County becomes Minnesota’s newest city Tuesday.  Four years ago, Credit River in Scott County was the last township in Minnesota to become a city.

They are the creators of Stories Behind the Menu, an annual series of four dinners that begins in February with Black History Month and ends in December during the holidays.
