Schools delayed, canceled as winter storm continues to affect southern Minnesota

Plows were out and schools were delayed or canceled across much of southern Minnesota on Tuesday as the area’s first significant winter storm of the season shifted eastward.

As snow winds down Tuesday in southwest Minnesota, it’ll pick up in the southeast. A winter storm warning is in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday for Fillmore and Houston counties, where the National Weather Service said another 5 to 8 inches of snow is possible. Much of Iowa and Wisconsin also will see heavy snow Tuesday.
 
As session approaches, Minnesota lawmakers plan to keep advancing shift to clean energy

Minnesota lawmakers passed a range of bills last year aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change.

This year, with a shorter legislative session and a much smaller budget surplus, expectations are more modest. But some key lawmakers and climate advocates say there’s still work to do. Here’s a look at what’s likely ahead.

Cloquet police say 3 people dead after 'active shooter' report. Police said footage from the motel’s surveillance cameras indicates that one of the three people found dead killed the other two. Authorities plan to release more information at a Tuesday morning news conference.

Judge orders new North Dakota legislative district for 2 Native American tribes. The tribes successfully argued a map created through redistricting in 2021 violated the Voting Rights Act by diluting their voting strength.

Trump faces a make-or-break moment in the election interference case. Lawyers for Trump argue he has immunity from prosecution. And if the appeals court panel sides with Trump, it could mean the end of the federal case against him.

2 major airlines find loose bolts, other problems on grounded Boeing jets. Alaska Airlines and United Airlines have found loose parts on their 737 Max 9 aircraft, bringing additional scrutiny to the component called a door plug that blew off an aircraft last week.
