Winter storm warnings continue for much of Minnesota

Dozens of school districts and colleges across Minnesota and in neighboring states have canceled classes, moved to online learning or opted to start classes two hours late on Monday.

Parts of Minnesota could see snow changing over to rain throughout the day Monday. On Monday night and Tuesday, colder air will move in, causing a changeover back to snow across much of the region. A couple more inches of accumulation are possible. Get the latest weather news on Updraft.

Monday storm updates: Digging out, rain could start the melting

After a major snowstorm hit Minnesota Sunday, continued precipitation could cause traffic issues Monday. Dozens of flights were canceled or delayed at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport as extra crews worked to keep runways open during a popular day for travel.

14-year-old Minnesota chess master wins national women’s title

International chess master Alice Lee, 14, was nervous going into the Women’s American Cup in Missouri last Thursday.

She went up against 40-year-old grandmaster Irina Krush, who beat her in last year’s American Cup during a tight game. Krush is one of the top female chess players in the U.S. and is also someone Lee has looked up to in her chess career.

But Lee, who is from North Oaks, came back to beat Krush two games in a row.
 
Spring snow storm: Your photos and snowfall totals from around Minnesota

The season’s biggest snowfall hit Minnesota on Sunday.

Here’s a look at some snowfall totals, as reported by the National Weather Service on Monday morning. It was still snowing in some areas, so snow totals may change later in the day. And take a look from behind the lenses and smartphones of Minnesotans across the state watching (and playing in) this storm.

 
What else we're watching: 

Walz heads to Owatonna for on-the-road State of State speech. Gov. Tim Walz gives the State of the State address Tuesday and he won’t be doing it from the Capitol in St. Paul. He’ll be at a high school in Owatonna in southern Minnesota.

Bemidji State University community works to prevent possible drug deaths. The CDC reports over one million people in the U.S. have died from drug overdoses since 1999. Bemidji State University, having experienced its own losses, is now taking action.

Russia marks a national day of mourning for victims of the concert hall attack. Family and friends of those still missing after an attack that killed more than 130 people at a suburban Moscow concert hall waited for news of their loved ones as Russia observed a day of national mourning on Sunday.

Timberwolves outlast Warriors 114-110 and match a season high with 21 3-pointers. Anthony Edwards scored 23 points and made 3 of 4 free throws in the final 12 seconds for the Minnesota Timberwolves in a 114-110 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night.

Zumwinkle, Heise help Minnesota rally for 3-2 shootout win over Montreal. Grace Zumwinkle scored a pair of shootout goals, Taylor Heise added another and Minnesota rallied from two goals down to beat Montreal 3-2 on Sunday in Professional Women's Hockey League action.
