Air quality alerts persist for Minnesota through Monday morning. Temperatures will be cooler, but still warm. Highs will range from the low 70s to low 60s. | Minnesota lawmakers are primed to extract every last minute of their allowed time at the Capitol as they strive to end the election-year session with deals on construction projects, cannabis market implementation, rideshare standards and more. They have until next Monday to formally adjourn with the campaign trail beckoning. But the practical time for bill drafting, debates and votes is shorter. No action can be taken after midnight Sunday.

| | Psychosis care model gives new hope to young patients | In October 2022, Charles Osugo was diagnosed with schizoaffective and bipolar disorders. The hospital stay was stressful; the days after discharge were worse. Charles wasn’t used to his new medication, which made him sleep through most of the day at first. He would use his short waking hours to call his doctor and ask if there was anything they could do. “Psych ward, therapy and pharmacy — I thought those were my three options,” Charles said. “But now I see there’s so much more to it.” | |

The alert is in effect until 8 a.m. for northern Minnesota and through noon for southern Minnesota, including the Twin Cities. Fine particle levels are expected to reach the red air quality index category, a level considered unhealthy for everyone. Nuggets tie series with Timberwolves at 2-2 with 115-107 win. Anthony Edwards scored 44 points in another spectacular performance for Minnesota, shooting 16 for 25 from the floor. But despite a 42-31 rebounding edge, the Wolves were beaten at their own game for the second-straight time at home by the defending NBA champions Supporters hope to save St. Cloud State University’s music department from budget cuts. The potential loss of music at St. Cloud State has prompted a groundswell of support. An online petition had collected more than 3,100 signatures as of Sunday. Rochester Public Schools move to formalize procedure for helping transgender kids. Around the state, school districts have or are in the process of developing guidelines aimed at helping transgender and gender-nonconforming kids navigate school. One such district is Rochester, where new guidance issued last fall has led to contentious school board meetings. These Minnesotans celebrated the new flag with costumes, laser loon earrings and Lutheran sushi. The new Minnesota state flag took its first flight on Saturday. In the backyard of a St. Paul residence, friends celebrated the new look — Minnesota-style. Twins beat Blue Jays 5-1 for 17th win in 20 games. Carlos Santana hit a three-run home run, Bailey Ober matched his career high by striking out 10 over 6 1/3 shutout innings and Minnesota won for the 17th time in 20 games.
Grand Portage Band and MnDOT to unveil Ojibwe-English road signs. This week, the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and MnDOT are unveiling six dual-language English-Ojibwe signs along Highway 61, the first time the agency will post signs in an indigenous language outside reservation boundaries. Otter Tail County proposes restrictions on vacation home rentals. Otter Tail County is considering a new ordinance designed to reduce noise and large gatherings at vacation home rentals. The proposed ordinance is in response to complaints from lake property owners. Rep. Ilhan Omar wins DFL endorsement on first round of balloting.Rep. Omar picks up the endorsement over former Minneapolis City Council member Don Samuels whom she narrowly defeated two years ago. St. Paul Public Schools graduates first EMT trainees. Twelve seniors graduated from St. Paul Public School’s EMT training program on Friday. It’s the first-ever class for the district and a possible way forward in a crisis for emergency medicine. Forest Service toughens rules on food storage in Boundary Waters to keep it away from bears. The U.S. Forest Service is toughening rules on storing food in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness to try to prevent black bears from seeing campers as a food source.
Lynx expand ticket sales for games against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. The additional tickets for the Lynx-Fever games are in the upper bowl of Target Center. The Lynx will play the Fever on July 14 and Aug. 24. — Nicole Johnson, MPR News
