👨‍⚕️The spread of bird flu to cattle and at least two people is raising concerns nationwide. Here in Minnesota, it's not rare to hear news of the pathogen popping up in poultry flocks, but it's also been detected in a goat in Stevens County. Dr. Brian Hoefs is the state veterinarian and he'll tell us more about the situation in Minnesota.

⚾Major League Baseball's record book is being shaken up. NPR brings us the story about how the league is incorporating stats from around 2,300 players from the Negro Leagues from the years 1920 to 1948.

For more than 20 years Micronesians have made Milan their home

The Micronesian community in Minnesota has boosted Milan’s once declining population and brought a new energy to town. Their presence has boosted the economy and infused youth into an aging populace.

According to data from the 2020 U.S. Census, Micronesians made up 57 percent of Milan’s population of 428. The town’s numbers peaked in the 1940 census with 624 residents and trended downward until it hit its lowest number, 326, in 2000.

“It’s a peaceful town. It’s not crowded. And you feel safe with your kids roaming around town, and we feel safe,” Nelisa Raymond said. “Yeah, that’s what I love about Milan.”
 
Wolves beat Mavericks 105-100 to keep NBA Finals hopes alive

The Minnesota Timberwolves held off the Dallas Mavericks 105-100 on Tuesday night to avoid a sweep in the Western Conference finals.

The Wolves stayed alive in their first trip to the conference finals in 20 years, and just the second in the franchise's 35 seasons.

Now third-seeded Minnesota heads home for Game 5 on Thursday night to see if it can make the series even more interesting against No. 5 seed Dallas.

⚖️ Defense set to present case after prosecution rests in Feeding Our Future trial.
The defendants are accused of falsely claiming to have served 18 million meals at 50 distribution sites around Minnesota in order to siphon $47 million from two U.S. Department of Agriculture nutrition programs that the Minnesota Department of Education oversees on the state level.

📜 Minnesota Historical Society will repatriate the ‘Mankato Hanging Rope’ to the Prairie Island Indian Community. The agency will submit a Notice of Intent to Repatriate to National NAGPRA for publication in the Federal Register. If there aren’t additional claims within a month of publication of the notice, the item can be physically transferred to the Prairie Island Indian Community.

👨🏻‍⚖️ Prosecutor says Trump tried ‘to hoodwink voters’ while defense attacks key witness in last arguments. Attorneys in Donald Trump’s hush money trial have finished their closing arguments after a marathon day in court. A prosecutor told jurors that Trump engaged in a conspiracy “to hoodwink voters” in 2016.

🥚Farmers must kill 4.2 million chickens after bird flu hits Iowa egg farm. The disease was found at a farm in Sioux County, Iowa, making it the latest in a yearslong outbreak that now is affecting dairy cattle as well.

🏥Authorities urge proper cooking of wild game after 6 relatives fall ill from parasite in bear meat. Trichinellosis has become rare in the U.S. While it was once commonly associated with undercooked pork, most U.S. cases nowadays are attributed to consumption of wild game.
