📝 The Minnesota Department of Education will release a report Tuesday on its oversight of the Feeding Our Future program. An education department employee was first to suspect fraud and report it to the FBI. On Friday, a jury a found five of seven defendants guilty in the fraud scheme. St. Paul criminal defense attorney Jack Rice joins us with more about what this case could mean for the other defendants.

Minneapolis shooting that killed MPD officer Mitchell claims fourth victim

Officials say a man who suffered multiple gunshot wounds on May 30 in Minneapolis has died.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office says Mohamed Bashir Aden died Friday morning at Hennepin County Medical Center after being shot inside an apartment building at 2221 Blaisdell Ave. on the city's south side. That’s the same place 32-year-old Osman Said Jimale was shot and killed.

Aden was 36 years old and lived in Columbia Heights.

The events of May 30 on the city’s south side have now claimed the lives of four people: Minneapolis police officer Jamal Mitchell, the alleged gunman Mustafa Ahmed Mohamed, Jimale and Aden. Three other people were also injured that night, including another police officer and a firefighter.

The memorial service for Mitchell is scheduled for Tuesday.
 
Meet Nanna, the 18-year-old blind and deaf dog on a mission to walk every bridge in the Twin Cities

Abe Switters and Nanna recently moved to St. Paul and started a new adventure — walking every bridge in the Twin Cities.

It all began when Nanna and Switters crossed the bridge near Minnehaha Falls. Nanna reacted in a way Switters says he won’t forget.

“She just stopped dead in her tracks, and kind of peered out, without eyes, over the bridge. And it was something about whether it was the wind on her face or maybe being able to smell, you know, far down the river. She was just captivated. And I have never seen her so still and at peace,” he said.
 
What else we're watching:

🗳️ New Minnesota poll has Biden with narrow edge over Trump as both remain unpopular. A new MPR News/KARE 11/Star Tribune poll has President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump running close in Minnesota. Most of those surveyed disapprove of Biden’s job performance and Trump's standing. Most have made up their minds on the election.

🚨 Hopkins police searching for missing 4-year-old. Hopkins Police are actively looking for a missing 4-year-old in the area of Blake Road North and 2nd Street Northeast. The child is described as a Black male, approximately 3 feet tall, 40 lbs. with short curly hair wearing blue pajama pants.

🔌 Nearly 6,000 Minnesotans applied for electric vehicle rebate. The Legislature set aside money for EV rebates last year as part of a suite of bills to address climate change. Minnesotans could apply for a rebate of up to $2,500 for a new EV or up to $600 for a used one.

🏛️ In some states that say they elect judges, governors choose them instead. Research shows that in two states with judicial elections — Georgia and Minnesota — nearly every state supreme court justice steps down midterm , allowing the governor to appoint a successor instead of the state holding an open election for a new justice.

🚢 One-half of crew evacuated from Lake Superior freighter after it flooded. The vessel was filled with approximately 16 tons of taconite when it began to take on water on Saturday after possibly colliding with something underwater. The Michipicoten had left the port at Two Harbors en route to Thunder Bay.

🏒 Natalie Darwitz is out as GM of Minnesota after building PWHL's first championship team. Without going into detail on the findings, which included input from players and staff, Hefford called the decision a difficult but eventually necessary one for the betterment of the PWHL.

🏀 McBride hits 7 3s, scores season-high 32 as Lynx beat Storm 83-64. The Minnesota Lynx beat Seattle on Sunday night and snapped the Storm's six-game win streak.

⚾ Twins avoid sweep with 11-5 win over Pirates. Manuel Margot hit an RBI triple to start a seven-run outburst in the 10th inning, and the Minnesota Twins ended a five-game losing streak with an 11-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.

🪲 Once called Nantucket fever, this nasty tick-borne illness is on the rise. The tick-borne parasitic disease is endemic in New England, and as deer ticks expand their range it’s now found from Virginia to Maine as well as the upper Midwest, from Michigan to Minnesota.
