☀️ We’re on watch for a record high temperature Wednesday across southern Minnesota. The warmest air mass in almost seven months is blowing July-like temperatures into the region. Get the latest on Updraft.

🎧  We all need other people to help us through tough times, and there’s power in feeling like someone understands you and your experience. Supporters of peer-to-peer groups for mental health say that’s exactly their power. Coming up at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, MPR News host Angela Davis speaks with two Minnesotans who have been to support groups themselves about how the groups helped them and what new members can expect.

College is now free for young Minnesotans who were in foster care as teens

For the first time, Minnesota is helping young adults who experienced foster care at any point after turning 13 pay for the full cost of attending public, private and tribal colleges here. 

Minnesota is one of over 30 states that provide tuition waivers or scholarships to students who have experienced foster care. But advocates say FIG (the state's Fostering Independence Grants program) is the most comprehensive and easiest to access in the country.
 
What else we're watching:
Indus school in northern Minnesota community awaits final decision on closure. A small community nestled near the Canadian border west of International Falls may learn as soon as Wednesday evening if it will lose its school. Supporters say Indus School in Baudette is a vital learning oasis for local families. 

MSPIFF 2023: A sampler platter of films from the festival. The Minnesota St. Paul International Film Festival (MSPIFF) is back for its 42nd year, showcasing a variety of films from all over the world at The Main theater in Minneapolis. The MPR News arts and culture team offers a sampling of 11 of the films offered.

Gen Z is the most pro union generation alive. Will they organize to reflect that? A recent poll shows that public support for labor organizing is the highest it's been in decades. But union membership is at an all-time low.
