After June’s floods, health concerns surface in northeastern Minnesota

It will be weeks until the full extent of damage is known and months until cleanup is complete in Cook and other parts of the state affected by high water. Residents are now in recovery mode and trying to get ahead of possible health effects from soaked structures.
 
Andrew Start’s journey in policy change is just beginning

Between volunteering with the Plymouth Fire Department, playing baseball and learning guitar, 21-year-old Andrew Start has been training to advocate for himself and others with Down Syndrome.

🗣️ Amid growing calls for Biden to pull out, congressional Democrats remain split. Worries mounted after reports from Biden’s meeting with governors last week that he may not do events past 8 p.m. Democrats don’t have much time for Biden to leave if he ultimately choses to do so but time is running out for a graceful exit.

⚖️ How the Supreme Court's immunity decision affects Trump's legal cases. In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court found presidents have absolute immunity for exercising their core constitutional powers and are entitled to a presumption of immunity for other official acts. The team at NPR's Trump's Trials podcast broke down what this decision means and how it may affect Trump’s legal cases.

🕯️Vikings player Khyree Jackson, 24, killed in Maryland crash. Minnesota Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson, 24, was one of three men killed in a car crash that involved multiple vehicles in Prince George’s County, Maryland early Saturday morning.

 Los Angeles Galaxy hand Minnesota United sixth straight loss with 2-1 victory. Minnesota United has not won since beating Sporting Kansas City 3-1 on June 1 . The team stays on the road to play the Houston Dynamo on Saturday.

🌡️ June sizzled to a 13th straight monthly heat record, but July might break string. Our streak of record-shattering hot months kept on simmering through June. There's hope that the planet will soon see an end to the record-setting part of the heat streak, but not the climate chaos that has come with it.

🗳️ U.K. Labour Party sweeps to power in historic election win.  French voters turned out in numbers not seen in decades to stop the far-right National Rally from taking power in the French National Assembly.
