🌞 Sunshine and hotter temperatures return Friday and Saturday. Highs will be near 90 degrees.

☔ We’ll have a chance for some isolated to spotty storms for northern Minnesota Saturday afternoon into the evening. Some storms could drift south overnight Saturday into early Sunday.

🌦️ A better chance of more widespread, scattered showers and thunderstorms develops for Monday. That will also set the stage for a much cooler and cloudier pattern overall next week. Highs will be mostly in the 70s.

🏅 Suni Lee is looking ahead to competing on the uneven bars this weekend after winning a bronze medal Thursday in Paris. Simone Biles won gold. Lee now has five Olympic medals in her gymnastics career so far. The St. Paul native drew a lot of hometown support, including a watch party not far from where she grew up.

Touched by cancer, Minnesota’s ‘Dragon Divas’ find power paddling as one

Jennifer Wall, 55, said breast cancer made her feel like her body had failed her. On the dragon boat, she tapped a well of strength.

“I did not feel amazing, I did not feel empowered, but I needed to try this,” she said of dragon boating. “I had every reason not to be interested in it. And the first few practices were hard — I couldn’t figure out how to move my body. But I have become so proud of my body and the fact that I did not give up.”

🚨 Patrol investigation clears Minnesota state trooper of wrongdoing in fatal shooting. Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty in June dismissed the case against trooper Ryan Londregan, 27, after an outside law firm determined that a jury was unlikely to convict him in the death of Ricky Cobb II.

🍿 Critical DMs: Chicago Mix, the Vince Vaughn of popcorn. " Yeah, it’s a staple in my home. I eat a lot of it, my girlfriend eats a lot of it, and our dog bullies us to give him as much as possible," arts editor Max Sparber said about Chicago Mix popcorn.
