| Coming up on Morning Edition | The debut appearance of Kamala Harris and her Democratic running mate is Tuesday in Philadelphia. Harris has secured the nomination for president and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is among those under consideration for the VP job. MPR News' Mark Zdechlik out east ahead of the decision. Farmfest is getting underway Tuesday morning near Redwood Falls in southwest Minnesota. Some 40,000 farmers, agricultural leaders and politicians are gathering to talk about the industry — and have a few political debates. Also on the docket: a forum about the farm bill, which Congress has to pass by the end of September. Gary Wertish, president of the Minnesota Farmers Union, joins us with more details. Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar has become a national figure since first being elected to Congress in 2018 as part of a group of progressives dubbed “The Squad.” Some of those members are facing primary elections where millions of dollars have been spent toward defeating them — especially because of comments they’ve made about Israel. Tuesday will be a day of assessing and cleaning up damage across south-central Minnesota in the wake of storms that produced tornadoes Monday evening. 💵 Hennepin County commissioners set to vote on 49 percent pay raise. The elected commissioners currently earn $122,225 a year. The measure up for a final vote at Tuesday’s board meeting would increase their salaries to $182,141 starting next year, followed by a 3 percent increase in 2026. 🎭 Listen: ‘Come see us be goofy,’ says Minnesota Fringe Fest performer. A trademark lawyer who bought the domain named ClintonKaine.com in 2016 is now sitting on HarrisWalz.com as Vice President Kamala Harris narrows in on a running mate.
